INTERACTIVE FUNCTIONS

BATTERY CHARGING
The battery inside the helmet has to be recharged before using the Interactive communication system. You need about 10 hours to completely recharge the battery using the supplied battery charger. The Interactive system works on its own for about 10 hours of communication when the battery is completely recharged. You will have reduced volume in audio, interference and problems with using it when the battery is running down: recharge it. The battery should be recharged every now and again if the system is not being used for long periods of time. Switch off the helmet when recharging the battery.
How to charge the battery: Connect the battery up to the mains (220V). Plug the battery charger connector into its socket inside the helmet. You will know the connector has been plugged in correctly and that recharging is in progress when the led lights up on the battery charger. Charge the battery for at least 10 hours before using Interactive for the first time. You will be able to recharge for shorter periods of time afterwards, even though it is always better to completely recharge the battery: a partial recharge does not guarantee complete autonomy.
ATTENTION: use the supplied battery charger only. Do not charge the battery with other devices. Do not wear the helmet when charging the battery.

AFFILIATION
If two helmets want to communicate with each other, they have to be affiliated, i.e. they must be "presented" to each other. The relevant affiliation procedure must also be followed to make a helmet communicate with a Bluetooth cell phone *. Remember that a helmet may be affiliated either as Master or Slave. It is important to know the difference to decide whether to affiliate your helmet as Master or Slave. A helmet already affiliated as Master can be anyhow re-affiliated as Slave and vice versa: you only have to repeat the affiliation procedure. The difference between Master and Slave lies substantially in the fact that with the intercom working (driver and passenger on board), ONLY the Master helmet is able to hear an incoming call by a repeated buzz in the helmet. You only have to press the Master multi-functional button to answer the call, temporarily disconnecting from the Slave. The Master will connect up to the Slave again after the call has ended. The Slave helmet has therefore only a passive function with the Intercom system on and is controlled by the Master. The Master helmet must be affiliated with both the Slave helmet and the cell phone if it has to communicate with them. Instead when a user is riding the motorbike alone, both if the helmet is Slave or Master and has a cell phone affiliated to the helmet, he/she will be able to hear a repeated buzz if they receive a call and will be able to answer it by pressing the multi-functional button on the helmet (see "How to use the telephone" for other functions). All affiliations remain in the memory even when the helmets are switched off, and will still be there when they are switched on again. The affiliation procedure will therefore only be repeated if you want to change the helmet or the phone you wish to talk to. Affiliation does not require any instruments so it can be done anywhere and at any time.

HOW TO AFFILIATE TWO INTERACTIVE HELMETS
The operation must be done by keeping the two helmets near to each other (1-3 metres): make sure there is no other Bluetooth apparatus working within a range of 15 metres (cell phones, computers, gps, etc..). Decide which helmet must be Master and which Slave. Master or Slave affiliation differs in the way you press the button. The two affiliations must be done in rapid succession. You must start the affiliation procedure with both helmets switched off (led off).
1. Keep the key pressed for about 10 seconds to enter the affiliation mode confirmed by the led flashing rapidly + a special buzz in the earphone (attention: the led already lights up after 3 seconds without flashing to indicate that the helmet is on: keep pressing the button to enter the affiliation mode, "rapid flashing"). Do this on both helmets. In this status both helmets are waiting to be affiliated and both can either be Master or Slave.
2. Master helmet: Briefly press the multi-functional button once again. The search for the Slave helmet is begun by doing this. This procedure may require 4-6 seconds
3. Slave helmet: the helmet waits for 20 seconds to be affiliated by a Master, this waiting stage is confirmed by the led flashing rapidly
4. When the leds in the two helmets stop flashing and go on to flash slowly (+ buzz in helmet) it means that they have found each other and are affiliated. They automatically connect up and the intercom system is ready to be used.

If the two helmets are not connected to each other at the end of the affiliation procedure, it means that it has failed, a low note in the earphone confirms failure. Switch off both helmets and repeat the Master and Slave affiliation procedure. If two affiliated helmets communicating with each other move away at a distance of more than 10 meters from each other the connection will be cut off: move them closer for reconnection and press the button in the Master helmet for two seconds (until the buzz in the earphone).

HOW TO AFFILIATE A BLUETOOTH CELL PHONE TO AN INTERACTIVE HELMET
The phone/helmet affiliation procedure is controlled through the phone. The phone sees the helmet (either Master or Slave) as a Bluetooth earphone. Consult your Bluetooth phone manual to check the affiliation procedure that varies from one phone to another. When you have understood the affiliation procedure for your phone, proceed with affiliating the helmet. Start with the helmet switched off. 1. Enter affiliation mode keeping the multi-functional button pressed for 10 seconds until flashing starts (see "How to affiliate two interactive helmets"), indicating the affiliation enablement phase. (note: this affiliation procedure does not cancel out any previous affiliations between the two helmets). 2. Proceed rapidly (within 20 seconds) with affiliation, using the phone with the affiliation procedure appropriate for that cell phone. A list of available Bluetooth devices will appear on the display, the name: "Stilo xxx" will appear in the list of available devices. Select "Stilo xxx". 3. At the request for a password enter 1111. The helmet will confirm affiliation completed through a buzz in the helmet and brief flashing. 4. Switch off both phone and helmet to memorize affiliation data. Switch off the helmet if affiliation has not been successful (see how to switch off the helmet) and repeat affiliation procedure right from the beginning. To check connection between helmet and Bluetooth phone, briefly press the helmet button: a message for vocal commands varying from one phone to another will appear on the display.

HOW TO USE THE PHONE
Attention: not all Bluetooth phones have the same compatibility with the Interactive system. Consult the attached list on recommended Bluetooth phones. You can find updating and latest information on the www.stilo.it. web site or else on www.vemarhelmets.it. The quality and standard of audio can change from one telephone call to another depending on the "bridge" hooked up to cell phone.
How to answer a telephone call. If a call comes to the cell phone affiliated to the Master helmet you will hear a double buzz in your helmet that acts as a telephone ringing, even if the Master helmet is in communication with the Slave helmet (intercom function). Briefly press the multi-functional button on the Master helmet to answer the call. Eventual connection with the Slave helmet will be temporarily cut off as soon as the Master answers the call. An interruption buzz will be heard in the Slave helmet announcing that it has been disconnected. The Master will automatically connect up to the Slave helmet again at the end of the call (if it was connected before the call came). A call can be cancelled by pressing the button on the helmet for two seconds.
How to make a phone call. You can make a phone call as you would normally with the phone, if the helmet is switched on but not connected to the other helmet. Digit the number, send the call from the phone and then press the button on the helmet for 2 seconds. Communication will be passed to the helmet. Once the call has been made by the phone, some cell phones such as Sony Ericsson T68i and T39M, pass the communication directly to the helmet without having to press the button on it. If however a Master and Slave are connected up to each other, they will have to be disconnected before making a call.
To disconnect two helmets connected up: Press the button of either one or the other of the helmets for two seconds (until the buzz): the helmets will be disconnected. Make the call as described above. At the end of the call, press the Master helmet key for 2 seconds to connect up the helmets again. The two helmets will connect up again to each other in a second.
